Noble Releases 'Cyprus A' Estimate
Noble Energy yesterday released an estimate of the gas potential of the Cyprus A prospect in the Cypriot Block 12 offshore concession.
The company estimates the possibility of geologic success at the prospect at 60 percent, and says it expects a gross mean resource range of 3 to 9 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas. Drilling is currently underway at the prospect.
The figure is less than the earlier estimates of 8 to 10 trillion cubic feet provided by Cypriot government officials, making the find considerably smaller than the Leviathan and even the Tamar discoveries in Israel. Block 12 also has deep oil potential of 3.7 billion barrels.
The Cyprus A prospect is the first offshore well drilled in Cyprus, located in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Mediterranean Sea.
