Norway Launches Expert Group Revision on Pension Fund
Norway sent mixed signals in the last hours, announcing awards in predefined areas while launching an independent analysis on emissions from coal and petroleum companies.
‘The Expert Group's conclusions will be presented in Autumn 2014. However, independent of its recommendations, the GPFG will continue to be a well-diversified, global financial investor and not a policy tool. This has broad political support,’ reads a note released by the Ministry of Finance on Friday.
The announcement came in the wake of a political debate about the role of the Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG).
On Thursday, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy announced the Awards in predefined areas 2014 (APA), comprising blocks in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea.
