Norway Offers Area for CO2 Storage
Norway's energy ministry has for the first time offered an offshore area available for storing CO₂ on the Norwegian continental shelf. "Today's announcement is a concrete follow-up of the government's ambition for full-scale CO2 handling in Norway and is an important part of the work on storage," the ministry said in a Norwegian-language statement July 5.
The government wants to realise a cost-effective solution for full-scale CO2 handling in Norway, and the area, near the Troll field, could become a technology hub.
Application deadline is September 7, with the intention of awarding an exploitation permit later in the year.
