Norway's Gas Output Continues Recovery

Norwegian gas production continued its recovery in November, rising 10% month on month to 333.2mn m3/day, data published on December 12 by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) shows. But output was still down 2.1% yr/yr and 3.1% under forecast.

Norway’s oil and gas industry has been plagued by unplanned outages at fields this year, causing production to lag behind expectations. State producer Equinor has also restricted flows because of low gas prices in Europe, as part of its value-over-volumes focus. After declining for much of the year, output rebounded in October, arriving at 298.6mn m3/day.

Oil production surged by 16% month on month, and 14.4% yr/yr in November, according to the NPD, thanks to the start-up of Johan Sverdrup in October.
