NYK inks charter deal for 4 LNGCs with Novatek
Japanese shipping company NYK has signed long-term time-charter contracts for four newly built LNG carriers with Novatek. The Russian company inked the deal through a joint venture with a group company of Sovcomflot.
The newly built LNG carriers will be constructed at Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries and are slated for delivery in 2023 and 2024. Each vessel will have a 174,000-m3 membrane-type tank.
The vessels will be equipped with WinGD-made dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engines that have superior fuel-consumption efficiency and can operate on marine gas oil or boil-off gas stored in the cargo tank, NYK said.
