Oman announces six hydrogen projects

Hydrom, a subsidiary of Energy Development Oman (EDO), has signed six agreements with a number of companies to develop green hydrogen projects in Oman, the state-owned Oman News Agency reported on March 14. These projects will entail an investment of more than 20bn Omani rials ($52bn) over the next seven years.

These agreements were signed with developers from Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Japan, Singapore, Germany, India, Kuwait and the UAE.

The combined production capacity of these projects is expected to be 15GW. These projects will be located in the governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar. 

These agreements include two projects for BP Alternative Energy Investments. The first project will be in Duqm while the second project will be in the Governorate of Dhofar. The agreements also include the Green Energy Oman project and the SalalaH2 project. 

Further, the agreements include the Hyport Duqm project and the Green Hydrogen and Chemicals SPC project.
