Oman's Duqm Natural Gas Pipeline Takes Shape
Plans of a 230-km-long pipeline carrying natural gas from central Oman to the new Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on the Wusta coast has firmed up, local media reports said.
A corridor for the construction of the pipeline, linking the Saih Nihayda gasfield with Duqm, has already been delineated. The pipeline is slated to come on stream by 2017.
The pipeline is anticipated to initially deliver 12mn cu ft of gas per day from the field to Duqm. The pipeline is key to meeting the energy and feedstock requirements of a massive industrial and petrochemicals hub planned as part of the Duqm SEZ.
