ONGC Awaits Approval on CBM Deals
ONGC Ltd continues to await for government approvals in its search for possible partnerships to develop its coal bed methane blocks.
Chairman A K Hazarika said that the company continued to hold discussions with interested parties, but had no plans to call for bids.
The Indian state-owned company is reportedly in discussions with Dart Energy Corporation, Essar Oil and Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd. Hazarika said that the firms were specialized in the coal-bed methane sector and well placed to assist the company in extracting the form of unconventional gas.
ONGC is prioritizing the development of the Bokaro and Jharia CBM blocks, as customers are in place to lay their own pipelines to take gas following commencement of production. Other CBM blocks held, include Raniganj, north Karanpura.
