PNOC Will Work Alone on Batangas-Manila Pipeline Project
The government of Philippines is likely to work on its own for the natural gas pipeline project that will deliver the fuel from the Port of Batangas to Metro Manila.
Philippine National Oil Co. would spearhead the project to allow government to manage the cost and ensure the connection of potential customers, a media report said.
The Batman 1 project will transfer gas that would be imported through or produced in regasification facilities rising in Batangas.
The report that citied a government official said that any private sector participation in the project would be limited to the support infrastructure that will process LNG, primarily because of the hefty investments this would require.
The pipeline is expected to cost between $150 and $200 million to put up while the other facilities would require over $2 billion.
