OPAL Fuels to help Wisconsin trucks run on RNG
New York-based OPAL Fuels said June 30 it had landed a contract to feed renewable natural gas (RNG) to regional heavy-duty truck fleets.
The company secured the deal with Contract Transport Services (CTS) to deliver RNG and help build a fuelling station for a facility in Wisconsin that caters to truck fleets. CTS already owns 103 trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG).

“The new RNG fuel and related infrastructure will save us time, money and significantly reduce our carbon emissions,” said CTS president Curt Reitz. No terms were disclosed.
RNG is sourced from the decomposition of organic matter in landfills or from animal waste. Both sides said RNG can be a cost-effective part of the energy transition, with total greenhouse emissions close to zero.
Elsewhere in the region, the state of Pennsylvania said earlier this year that it would help cover the cost of converting light-duty vehicles to run on RNG. A grant used for the funding is part of a broader $3.4mn programme the state government announced May 13 that covers 20 separate clean transportation efforts state-wide.
Pennsylvania’s government estimates that transportation generates 47% of state-wide emissions of harmful nitrogen oxides and 21% of its CO2 emissions.
