Optimal Group, Linde plan bio-LNG plant in Australia
Australia’s Optimal Group and UK-based chemical company Linde have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on developing a bio-LNG plant in Australia, Optimal said on November 29.
The proposed facility will come up at the Westbury LNG complex in the state of Tasmania, operated by Linde’s subsidiary BOC and its Australian gas business Elgas. Under the MoU, the partners will investigate building a A$55mn ($39mn), 2.4 terajoules/day waste-to-biogas plant adjacent to the Westbury LNG complex. That bio-gas will then be liquefied, and the LNG will be distributed to customers in agriculture, food processing and other industries, Optimal said.
Optimal has a pipeline of additional bio-gas projects in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
