NGE Notes: Orlen Looks at BNK's Polish Shales

PKN Orlen is interested in shale gas cooperation with BNK Petroleum.

Wieslaw Prugar, President of Orlen Upstream, said that the company was interested in investigating opportunities with the California based company.

BNK Petroleum holds interests in six exploration licenses for shale gas exploration in Poland.

BNK has been drilling the Wytowno S-1, Lebork S-1 and Starogard S-1 wells, as manager for Saponis Investments Sp. z o.o. The three licenses are in partnership with Sorgenia E & P SpA and Rohol-Aufsuchungs Aktiengesellschaft and LNG Energy Ltd.

BNK also holds three licences through wholly owned Indiana Sp. z o.o. and has reportedly engaged a financial advisory firm in to assist in the evaluation of farm-in inquiries received on the projects.

The three Indiana concession blocks, Darlowo, Trzebielino and Bytow are situated immediately south of Saponis’ Slawno and Slupsk concessions.  Drilling on the Miszewo T-1 well on its Trzebielino concession block, began this past February.

Last December, Polish gas giant PGNiG said that it was interested in BNK's holdings.
