Orlen Receives Concession to Seek Shale Gas
Poland's Ministry of Environment has granted Orlen Upstream a license to explore for shale gas deposits in the Lublin region.
The concession area covered by the license, tentatively named Hrubieszów, covers an area of 414.5 km2 and is located within the south-eastern part of the Lublin Coal Basin, in Hrubieszow Chelm.
The concession was granted for a period of five years. Orlen intends to undertake an analysis of archival geological data and conduct seismic and exploratory drilling.
