Osaka Gas Gets Taiwan Terminal Job

Osaka Gas Engineering, a unit of Osaka Gas, has received orders for consulting work related to construction of LNG receiving terminals in Taiwan, Osaka Gas said May 17. The terminals are being planned by CPC and Taiwan Power.

State-owned CPC is planning a terminal with capacity of 6mn mt/yr with initial capacity of 3mn mt/yr. Osaka Gas Engineering will be providing design and construction consulting services related to the terminal.

Taiwan Power, another state-owned entity, is looking to construct an LNG import terminal with a capacity 4.1mn mt/yr along with a power plant in Taichung district of Taiwan. Osaka Gas Engineering will be providing basic design and technical consulting services to Taiwan Power. This is the first time that Osaka Gas Engineering will be working with Taiwan Power, it said.

Taiwan’s LNG imports have been rising as the government has announced plans to stop all nuclear power plants by 2025. With imports expected to further increase, Taiwan is strengthening its LNG import infrastructure. At present Taichung and Yong'an are the two operational LNG imports terminals in Taiwan.
