Osaka Gas, TES sign MoU to study e-methane

Japan’s Osaka Gas and Europe-based Tree Energy Solutions (TES) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study the potential for e-methane, the Japanese company announced on September 4.

The MoU will focus on the development of an e-methane supply chain that can utilise existing gas infrastructure. Osaka Gas UK and TES will also work to promote understanding of the usefulness of e-methane and encourage governments around the world to design systems that contribute to its social implementation.

E-methane is a promising new energy source that has the potential to decarbonise the gas industry. It has almost the same composition as natural gas, so it can be used with existing LNG liquefaction and transportation equipment, city gas infrastructure, and combustion equipment at customer sites. This makes it a convenient and cost-effective option for decarbonising the gas sector.
