Osaka Gas to provide consulting services for CPC's 4th LNG terminal

Osaka Gas, through its subsidiary Daigas Gas and Power Solutions Co. (DGPS), has been awarded a contract by Taiwanese utility CPC Corporation for the basic design work and technical consulting services for CPC's fourth LNG receiving terminal in Kaohsiung Port, Osaka GAs said on June 23.

The LNG receiving terminal is scheduled to start operations in 2029 and will have a capacity of 6mn metric tons/year. The facility will include four LNG tanks, each with a capacity of 180,000 kiloliters, as well as gasification equipment, equipment for receiving ocean-going vessels, and other related facilities.

DGPS has a longstanding relationship with CPC, dating back to 1990 when its predecessor, Osaka Gas Engineering Co., provided support for the initial construction of the Yongan LNG receiving terminal. Currently, DGPS is also involved in offering technical consulting services for the Kwun Tong LNG terminal in Taoyuan City and the Phase 4 expansion of the Taichung LNG terminal, for which they received an order last year.

Osaka Gas currently operates the Taichung and Yongan LNG terminals in Taiwan. The addition of the Kaohsiung Port terminal will make it CPC's fourth LNG import terminal, alongside the under-development Kwun Tong terminal.
