Oz Cooper's Sole Gas Project Passes Milestone
Sydney-listed Cooper Energy has passed a milestone with the first flow of gas from Sole gas field offshore Victoria to the Orbost gas processing plant for the second, and final, phase of commissioning, it said March 11 in a statement.
“Gas produced by the field is being used to commission the plant’s raw gas processing facilities. Initial gas production and processing levels will be at small volumes. Gas production is expected to increase gradually as the second phase commissioning progresses towards completion and the performance of a full-rate production test,” Cooper said.
The Orbost plant is being upgraded by gas infrastructure company, APA Group, to process gas from the Sole gas field. Last month, Cooper injected gas from the Eastern gas pipeline into the Orbost gas processing plant.
“Satisfaction of the commissioning activities will enable commencement of gas supply from Sole to the customers under long term contracts. APA Group advises full-rate production and commercial operation for firm gas supply are anticipated in March 2020,” the company said.
According to Cooper, the Sole project will deliver an additional 68 terajoules/day (64mn ft3/day) of natural gas supply for southeast Australia.
