Oz East Coast LNG Exports in April Up 6%

The three LNG export projects in the Australian state of Queensland shipped 1.78mn metric tons of LNG in April, up over 6% year-on-year, latest data published May 6 by Gladstone Ports Corporate showed.

The three export projects are ConocoPhillips-Origin Energy Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), Shell’s Queensland Curtis LNG and the Santos-led Gladstone LNG.  

China was the biggest buyer last month. Asia’s biggest economy imported 1.29mn mt of LNG in February, up from 1.12mn mt in April 2018.

Malaysia, the second biggest importer last month, imported 0.24mn mt of LNG, up from 0.12mn mt in the same month last year.

The third biggest importer of Queensland LNG in April was South Korea, which imported 0.17mn mt of LNG, down about 26% year-on-year, the data showed. In 2018, Queensland projects shipped record 20.57mn mt of LNG from Port of Gladstone, up 1.7% year-on-year.
