Invictus Hopes to Raise Estimates on Zimbabwe Project
Africa-focused Invictus Energy said April 10 that it hopes to raise its estimates after receiving the final processed seismic data for the Cabora Bassa project in Zimbabwe.
“The seismic data will now undergo interpretation which will enable us to identify and mature the additional prospects and leads within our SG 4571 permit," said Invictus managing director Scott Macmillan. "Once the interpretation of the full dataset is completed we expect to add materially to the prospective resource estimate base of the Mzarabani Prospect at 3.9 trillion ft3 + 181mn barrels of gas-condensate (gross mean unrisked) from further prospect and lead identification within our acreage,” he added.
According to the company, the Cabora Bassa project encompasses the Mzarabani Prospect, a multi-trillion ft3 conventional gas-condensate target which is potentially the largest, un-drilled seismically defined structure onshore Africa. The prospect is defined by a robust dataset acquired by Mobil in the early 1990s that includes seismic, gravity, aeromagnetic and geochemical data, Invictus said.
“Following on from the seismic interpretation work, a Final Independent Prospective Resource Report encompassing the entire SG 4571 area will be delivered. The company will continue with its geological and geophysical studies including additional basin modelling and a further resource estimate leading into a planned marketing programme to attract a farm-in partner,” Macmillan added.
SG 4571 covers 250,000 acres located in the Cabora Bassa Basin in northern Zimbabwe.
