P6 Technologies unveils life cycle analysis software for biogas industry

US-based software developer P6 Technologies on May 2 announced the launch of a cloud-based life cycle analysis (LCA) software solution tailored for the biogas industry.

The LCA for biogas positions P6 Technologies for accelerated growth by providing critical software solutions essential for driving emissions reduction initiatives, the company said. By enabling companies to assess both existing and new sites, generate regulatory documentation, and track site performance, the P6 solution facilitates streamlined operations and enhanced environmental performance.

Renewable natural gas (RNG), produced by biogas facilities and injected into existing natural gas pipelines, plays a role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. P6's solution supports RNG producers in capturing methane emissions from farms, landfills, and organic food waste, thus preventing their release into the environment.

"RNG producers are working to capture methane emissions from farms, landfills, and organic food waste that otherwise would have been released into the environment. The P6 solution will help accelerate the expansion of these facilities by making it faster to perform and LCA on new sites and to capture the information needed to submit a pathway to regulatory bodies such as California where RNG is considered a low-carbon fuel and currently qualifies for LCFS [Low Carbon Fuel Standard] credits," said Joe Berti, CEO of P6 Technologies.

Governments worldwide are actively supporting biogas projects through policies, incentives, and subsidies, fostering investment and adoption of biogas technologies. Berti highlighted the importance of technology companies in driving meaningful change, stating, "Technology companies can move quickly and have an immediate impact, making the circular economy a reality."

Performing life cycle analysis provides insights into methane emissions prevention at RNG production sites. .
