Ex-finance minister of Pakistan Miftah Ismail has been arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as part of government’s crackdown on political leaders allegedly involved in corruption, according to various media reports published August 7.

The arrest was confirmed by NAB after his pre-arrest bail was rejected by the Islamabad high court. Ismail has been charged on a multi-billion-rupee case, related to the award of a Qatri LNG import contract.
