Pakistan to Float Tender for LNG Terminal Construction
Pakistani government has decided to float tender for construction of LNG terminal within a week to import gas from Qatar by 2014, according to Business Recorder.
Qatar has asked Pakistan to construct LNG terminal before starting negotiations on gas supply, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Friday.
Abbasi said that the government had decided to go for the construction of terminal first and then sign agreement, Business Recorder reported.
He further said that the government initial requirement of LNG was 1.4 million tons and the price would be major factor in reaching an agreement.
The minster stated that he was hopeful imports would begin by October 2014.
