Pakistan's OGDCL Finds Gas in Sindh

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), a partner in Guddu Block JV, has discovered gas from the exploratory well Marti East-1, located in district Ghotki of Pakistan's Sindh province, the company statement said last week.

The JV of Guddu Block comprise Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), as operator (70%), IPRTOC (11.5%), SEPL (13.5%) and Government Holdings (Pvt) Limited (5%).

“The well was drilled down to the depth of 770 M, targeting to test the hydrocarbon potential of Pirkoh Limestone. The zone has tested 2.10 MMSCFD of gas and flow rates are expected to enhance after acid stimulation treatment,” OGDCL said.

The Guddu Block covers an area of 2093.4 sq. km. over parts of Sindh and Punjab provinces of Pakistan. The Block lies in the Middle Indus basin or Sulaiman sub-basin which contain the major gas fields of Pakistan such as Sui, Mari, Qadirpur and Kandhkot that have well over 28 TCF of original recoverable gas reserves.
