PetroChina Achieves Ansai LNG Project Trial

PetroChina’s Ansai LNG project in Shaanxi Province has produced LNG in one liquefaction trial, parent company China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said in a Tuesday statement.

This marks the independently developed of the industrial application of the double mixed refrigerant (DMR) process, which has been developed by CNPC's China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corp. (HQCEC). In December 2009, Kunlun Energy and HQCEC signed the China gas Ansai LNG project EPC contract.

The process is the first of its kind regarding large-scale gas liquefaction in China, the company said.

CNPC said major breakthrough in promoting natural gas liquefaction proprietary technology will contribute to the promotion of economic development of the area.
