Petrofac takes operatorship of FPSO offshore Australia

Services company Petrofac has taken over operatorship of the Northern Endeavour floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facility on behalf of the Australian government, it said on October 3.

Petrofac’s Australian team was contracted earlier this year to complete the first phase of the decommissioning of the FPSO after the previous operator Northern Oil & Gas Australia went into administration.

“Since the award, work has been underway to prepare the FPSO for disconnection,” Petrofac said. Disconnection of the FPSO is expected to occur over approximately 18 months.

The Northern Endeavour is a 274 m long vessel, moored between the Laminaria and Corallina oil fields about 550 km northwest of Darwin in the Timor Sea.
