Petronet LNG Could Further Expand Dahej Terminal Capacity
India's Petronet LNG Ltd is mulling expanding the capacity of Dahej terminal by another 2.5 million tons (mt) to 17.5 mt.
The company is already in the process of hiking the terminal capacity to 15 mt and expects the expansion work to finish by the end of 2016. CEO Ashok Kumar Balyan, while announcing company’s quarterly results on Friday, said the board has approved plan to study the prospects for raising the capacity by another 2.5 mt.
If this expansion comes through, the terminal would be one of the largest single-location liquid gas import terminal in the world, according to Times of India newspaper.
Dahej currently has four storage tanks and two more are being built as part of expansion to 15 mt.
