Petronet to Start Construction of Gangavaram LNG Terminal in the Second Half of 2014
Petronet LNG will likely commence construction of LNG terminal at Gangavaram in state of Andhra Pradesh in the second half of this year, reports Business Standard, a financial newspaper.
“We have got all necessary clearances for construction. It should start towards the end of this year after we complete the process of awarding the work contract,” said A. K. Balyan, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Petronet.
The Gangavaram LNG terminal will have a capacity of upto 5 million tonne per annum. Petronet and Gangavaram port signed the deal for terminal construction in 2012.
According to Business Standard, the terminal will cater to energy needs of Eastern and Central India.
Petronet runs 10 mtpa LNG terminals in Dahej in Western India and is also in the process of building another terminal in Kochi in South India.
