PetroVietnam Gas announces arrival of fifth LNG cargo

PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas), a unit of the state-backed energy company PetroVietnam, announced on June 12 the arrival of its fifth LNG cargo.

The 70,000-tonne cargo was sourced from Brunei and supplied by PetroChina International, a unit of the Chinese state-owned entity PetroChina. The cargo was delivered to the Thi Vai LNG import and regasification terminal. The regasified LNG will be supplied to power plants and industrial customers.

The Thi Vai LNG import terminal was commissioned by PV Gas last year. With an initial handling capacity of 1mn tonnes/year, the terminal boasts a 180,000 m3 storage LNG tank, a jetty, and a regasification area. In the second phase, the terminal's capacity will be expanded to 3mn tonnes/year.

PV Gas announced earlier in March its plans to commence LNG supply via trucks to downstream customers in the near future.
