PGN Aims to Build 1,680 km of Gas Pipeline in Indonesia by 2019

Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) plans to build 1,680 kilometres of gas pipeline inside Indonesia by 2019.

The company hopes the elaborate network will help optimise use and distribution of natural gas, Indonesian online business portal KATADATA reported Tuesday.

According to the website, Duri-Dumai-Medan open access transmission pipeline, Muara Bekasi-Semarang transmission pipeline and Batam (Nagoya) WNTS-Pemping distribution pipeline are some of the projects PGN will focus on.

“Infrastructure construction is a vital long-term investment to expand the use of natural gas,” said president director of PGN Hendi Prio Santoso, in Jakarta on Friday.

This year, PGN will also optimise the Lampung floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) facility managed by PGN LNG Indonesia. The facility is expected to be able to pipe 1.1 million cubic meters of LNG to meet customer demand in West Java and South Sumatra.

Currently, PGN owns and operates a total of 7,026 km of pipeline.
