PGNiG Drills New Well in Pakistan

Poland’s PGNiG has started drilling Rehman-7 well in the Rehman field in the Sindh province of Pakistan, it said March 6 in a statement.

Rehman-7 is the eighth well in the Rehman field and is located north of the Rehman-4 well. The planned depth of the well is 2,925 metres. Drilling work is carried out by Exalo Drilling from the PGNiG Capital Group, the company said.

“Pakistan remains an important foreign activity market for PGNiG. Our cooperation with Pakistani partners is exemplary. Last year, PGNiG's output from the joint license amounted to almost 200mn m3,” said Jerzy Kwiecinski, president of the management board of PGNiG. He added that the latest well will allow the company to increase gas extraction and sales in the Pakistani market.

PGNiG produces natural gas from two tight gas fields in Pakistan - Rehman and Rizq. The Rehman field is located on the border of the Sindh and Baluchistan provinces, in the southern part of Pakistan. PGNiG, which acts as the operator, holds 70% share in the production, and Pakistan Petroleum holds the remaining 30%.
