PGNiG Imports 40th LNG Cargo
Polish state-run producer and gas importer PGNiG received its 40th LNG cargo - which is also its 31st from Qatargas -- in the morning of September 6 at the country's LNG import terminal at Swinoujscie.
The cargo was delivered aboard Qatar's Al Sheehaniya carrier, which PGNiG said a day before its arrival was carrying about 90,000 metric tons of LNG, which will yield about 120mn m3 gas after regasification.
The Polish company signed late March a 2mn metric tons/yr of LNG agreement with Qatargas from January 2018 until June 2034, effectively doubling the volume of its existing contract.
PGNiG has also received LNG deliveries from the USA, Norway, as well as two original commissioning cargoes. The Polskie LNG-operated terminal opened in 4Q2015 and the first commercial cargo to PGNiG from Qatargas followed in June 2016.
“We are in the process of concluding agreements with American suppliers for a further several billion cubic meters, which will be at disposal starting from 2022. We will be able to bring it to Poland or sell it anywhere in the world,” said PGNiG CEO Piotr Wozniak of two preliminary deals inked in June with Venture Global LNG and Sempra LNG & Midstream.
LNG's share of PGNiG's gas imports has been rising: it accounted for 18% of the total in 1H2018, compared to 13% in 1H2017. The company intends to import at least 28 LNG deliveries in 2019.
