PGNiG Seeks Price Reductions from Gazprom

In a continuing attempt by European importers to revise pricing arrangements with Gazprom, Polish gas monopoly PGNiG is demanding a ten percent decrease in the price it pays for Russian natural gas, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports.

Negotiations are currently underway and PGNiG is taking a hard stance: demanding that either Gazprom reduces its prices or the matter will be taken to a court of arbitration.

Poland is fourth in Europe in terms of the volume of gas purchased from Gazprom, and yet has the worst pricing conditions.

Last year Poland's natural gas imports totaled $3.3 billion.
