PGNiG Seeking to Share Concessions

In an article in Gazeta Wyborcza, PGNiG exploration officer Andrzej Maksym stated that the company expects to obtain the first results on non-conventional gas deposits in Markowola (the Pawns- Casimir concession) in the Lublin Basin shortly.

The company will be fracturing for shale/tight gas in July.

The article also discussed PGNiG's plans for other concessions in the Lublin region, for exploration in the Siekierki region and in the vicinity of Gdansk Wejherowo.

PGNiG has started a process of cooperation to swap ownership in its concessions, particularly where they are adjacent to those of with foreign companies such as Aurelian, Chevron, and FX Energy. This would not only allow for risk sharing, but permit expedited activities on the concessions.

PGNiG owns 11 licenses for non-conventional gas sources and has applied for two more. To date, Poland has granted 58 such licenses.
