Phase 17 of South Pars Starts Pumping Gas

Iran has started pumping 10 mcm per day of natural gas from phase 17 of the South Pars gas field, manager of the development project of phases 17 and 18 said.

Hassan Boveiri said platform 17A of phase 17 became operational on Tuesday, November 17, reported Fars News Agency. Production is expected to increase to 15 mcm/d within the next 10 days, he added.

The gas will be fed to Iran Gas Trunkline 7 (IGAT 7) for domestic consumption.

The refining capacity of phases 17 and 18 will reach 40 mcm/d by late December, he stated.

South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers lies in Iran's territorial waters (South Pars) in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, referred to as the North Dome, lies in Qatar's territorial waters.
