Phase 19 of South Pars Field Becoms Operational

Iran has started recovering 0.5mcm per day (mcm/d) of sour gas from SPD2 platform of phase 19 of the South Pars gas field, state owned news agency Shana reported Tuesday.

An 18-inch pipeline will deliver the gas to onshore refinery facilities for treatment. The gas will then be transferred to a distillation unit by a 32-inch pipeline which stretches to train 4 of the refinery facilities.

Once desalted and sweetened, the gas will be injected to the national gas network for domestic consumption within a 10 to 15-day period, Shana added.

The phase is being developed 210km off the Bushehr coast in Persian Gulf.

Once fully operational, phase 19 is expected to produce 50 mcm/d of sweet gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane.

This development phase was awarded by Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) to Petropars and IOEC in June 2010 under an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract.

Petropars is responsible for onshore installations and drilling operations.
