PPL Starts Commercial Production from its Second Gas Well in Sindh

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Thursday announced start of commercial production of natural gas from its second well at Gambat South block.

“We would like to disclose start up and commissioning of the company’s second gas processing facility from well from well Sharf X-1, Shahdadpur field at Gambat South,” the company said in a statement to Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Initial sale of 22 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas has commenced, which will gradually be increased to 33 million standard cubic feet per day from 50 million standard cubic feet per day of raw gas during the plant's performance testing, PLL said.

The plant after reaching its maximum design capacity is expected to produce 500 to 600 barrels per day of condensate and 10 to 2 metric tonnes per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in addition to 33 million standard cubic feet per day of sales gas, the company added.

Gambat South block is located in Sindh province. The block was granted to PPL in December 2009.

Later, the company farmed-out 10% of its working interest in Gambat South to Asia Resources Oil Limited and 25 percent to Government Holdings (Private) Limited in June and July 2010, respectively.

So far, eight discoveries, Wafiq, Shahdad, Sharf, Kinza, Faiz (two formations), Kabir and Hatim have been made in the block with the latest in November 2015, according to company’s website.
