PTTEP joins forces with UNEP to strengthen methane emissions management
Thai state-owned PTT Exploration and Production Public Company (PTTEP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to participate in the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the company announced on November 16.
This move is a step towards strengthening PTTEP's methane emissions management practices and aligns with its commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with Thailand's goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065.
OGMP 2.0 is UNEP's flagship programme for the oil and gas industry, specifically designed to manage methane emissions in accordance with international standards. This program supports both the global methane pledge to reduce methane emissions and the Paris Agreement's objective of limiting global warming.
