QatarEnergy signs LNG supply deal with Kuwait

QatarEnergy has signed a 15-year LNG deal with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) for the supply of up to 3mn tonnes/year of LNG, it said on August 26.

The LNG will be delivered ex-ship to Kuwait's Al-Zour LNG terminal onboard QatarEnergy’s conventional, Q-Flex, and Q-Max LNG vessels, starting in January 2025.

This new agreement is the second long-term LNG deal with KPC, and is “considered pivotal” in further boosting bilateral trade between Qatar and Kuwait, QatarEnergy said.

Qatar, the world's largest LNG exporter, held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 3 last year for the North Field expansion project, which will raise the country's LNG production capacity from 77mn tonnes/year to 126mn tonnes/year by 2026.

In December last year, QatarEnergy announced the successful integration of all marketing and marketing-related activities formerly managed by QatarEnergy LNG. In February this year, QatarEnergy unveiled the North Field West LNG expansion project.
