Recent Russia-Pakistan Energy Deals Will Not Impact Delhi's Relations With Moscow
New Delhi has said that recent energy deals between Russia and Pakistan will not have any negative impact on relations with India.
"India and Russia have a strategic and cooperative privileged relationship… Therefore we are confident that our concerns on this matter are understood well by our Russian friends and they will not do anything that adversely impinges on us," Syed Akbaruddin said India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson on Friday at a media briefing, according to Sputnik News Agency.
On December 10, Russia’s Rostec said that its subsidiary, RT Global Resources, starting next year, will begin building oil and gas infrastructure in Pakistan, including gas pipeline networks and terminals for the regasification of LNG.
Also, on December 23, Express Tribune newspaper reported Pakistan and Russia signed a $1.7 billion Karachi to Lahore gas pipeline construction deal.
The agreement was signed during the visit of the Russian defence minister.
