Repsol, Bolivia Finalise Acreage Deal
Bolivian president Evo Morales and Repsol president Antonio Brufau met June 8 in Brussels to finalise an agreement enabling the company to explore a new block in southern Bolivia where the country’s largest gas producing fields are located.
Repsol said the two men discussed energy sector issues, analysed new common projects, and Bolivia´s strategic position in the Latin-American market. They also analysed the company's plans to increase production and reserves in the Andean country.
Morales expressed his satisfaction and confidence in Repsol’s operatorships in Bolivia, said the company, while Brufau reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the country’s energy sector as well as its commitment to study new collaboration projects. Repsol has mineral rights to a total of 31 blocks in Bolivia, made up of six in exploration and 25 in development or production. In 2016, Repsol's net gas production in the country was 2.39bn m3/yr, mainly from the Margarita-Huacaya field operated by Repsol.
