Repsol Cleared to Extend Life of Norwegian Gas Field
Spanish oil producer Repsol has received the consent of Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to extend the operational life of the Rev gas field in the Norwegian North Sea, the government regulator said on June 26.
Rev, situated near the UK maritime border, was brought on stream in 2009 and produced a peak of 1.13bn m3 of gas the following year, along with 4,900 b/d of oil and some condensate. Output fell quickly after that, though, because of problems maintaining reservoir pressure.
In a statement, the PSA said it had granted Repsol, Rev's operator, a licence extension from April 1 2021 until December 31 2023.
