Romanian PM Backs Shale Gas Development

Romania's Prime Minister has stated that he is in favour of shale-gas exploration in the country.

In an on-line convesation Friday with Hotnews.ro readers, Victor Ponta said a final decision on the exploitation of shale gas resources would take place after a confirmation of resources, which is expected to take five years.

The PM said that any shale gas development would be in compliance with all European and global environmental standards.
