Rosneft Plans Expansion in the Balkans
Russia’s Rosneft is considering the acquisition of Croatia’s Industrija Nafte (INA) and Slovenia’s Petrol, according to Italy’s newspaper Osservatorio Italiano and Croatian daily Vecernji list.
At the moment, INA is bogged down in an arm-wrestling with its main stakeholder, Hungary’s MOL.
Rosneft is trying to proceed with an expansion in the region, with possible acquisitions in Austria, Hungary and Italy.
The company led by Igor Sechin recently confirmed it would monetize its gas potential in Russia, selling its 49% share in Yugragazpererabotka to Sibur.
