Russia Launches Far Eastern Gas Pipeline
Russia launched its Far Eastern gas pipeline on Thursday at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Putin pressed a button, symbolically opening the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok pipeline on Russky Island in Vladivostok.
The ceremony was also attended by Alexei Miller, chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, Russia's gas giant.
The gas company said the pressure in the pipeline has been adjusted and all systems were working properly.
When put into operation, the 1,800-km long pipeline will transport 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to Vladivostok.
