Russia to Offer Rights to Siberian Gas Block
Russia's government has ordered an auction to be held this year for rights to the Zapadno-Minkhovsky block in the Yamalo-Nenets region of West Siberia, according to a decree published on its website on September 22.
The block holds 330bn m3 of gas in various categories of possible resources under Russia's classification system, the government stated, along with 27.2mn metric tons of condensate. Subsoil licensing agency Rosnedra has been instructed to organise the auction process.
Yamalo-Nenets accounts for over 80% of Russian gas production, hosting many of the country's largest fields, including the Gazprom-owned Bovanenkovo, Urengoi and Zapolarynoye fields.
