Poland: San Leon Ups Rawicz Concession Area
San Leon Energy has announced that its Rawicz concession has been expanded, to be merged with the Winsko concession, both in Poland, bringing the total concession area to 742km2.
San Leon is the 100 per cent licence holder of the Rawicz concession.
The expanded licence area includes the Rawicz gas field, a previously discovered but unproduced field estimated to contain reserves of around 17 billion cubic feet of high quality methane gas in the Permian Rotliegendes formation. San Leon also says it sees potential upside for oil and gas production in the Zechstein Main Dolomite in the same area.
Following an estimated 120 km2 3D seismic survey to be conducted over the Rawicz gas field in the fourth quarter of 2012, San Leon says it will spud its first appraisal well in the second or third quarter of 2013. The seismic survey work will be carried out by San Leon subsidiary NovaSeis.
San Leon expects production to follow quickly from then, with first production expected in the third quarter of 2013.
"As we continue to expand our Permian/SW Carboniferous acreage in Poland we see the addition of the Rawicz gas field as key to our strategy to focus on near-term production to generate cash flow while we continue to understand the significant upside present in the deeper Carboniferous," Chairman of San Leon, Oisin Fanning, said.
