Santos Cuts Back on New South Wales CSG Operations
Santos has decided to trim back its coal seam gas operations in New South Wales as it moves to accelerate its largest project, ABC News said.
Santos has announced it will not develop 50 core wells in the state's north-west and will instead seek approval for 18 core and pilot wells in the Pilliga State Forest at Narrabri, ABD reported. The company says the project could supply 25 per cent of the state's gas needs if approved.
Santos spokesman Sam Crafter says other sites around Gunnedah, Coonabarabran and north of Narrabri are not viable at this stage.
"The Pilliga is where we know the most about the resource in the ground," he was quoted by ABC as saying.
Crafter pointed that the company is focusing on best to develop the gas that is there.
