Santos Starts Drilling Offshore Bangladesh
Australia’s Santos has started drilling a new well in Block 16 in the Bay of Bengal in search of natural gas.
Drilling began at the well Northeast Sangu-1, around 45 kilometres away from coast of the bay, on Thursday morning.
The company targets to drill up to 3,800 metres to find gas which may take 45 days to complete.
With an aim to increase gas supply to industries in Chittagong, Santos undertook a US$126-million project of drilling three new wells South Sangu 4, Sangu 11 and Sangu Northeast, located in Block 16, in Sangu gas field in the Bay of Bengal.
