Saudi Arabia Appoints New Energy Minister

Saudi Arabia has appointed a new energy minister, state-owned Saudi News Agency reported September 8.

The country replaced energy minister Khalid al-Falih with Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who is King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s son. al-Falih was appointed in May 2016.

bin Abdulaziz stressed the important role the energy sector would play within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification programme, according to the state news agency. He also stressed the country’s commitment to working with other producers inside and outside OPEC to stabilise and balance the global oil markets.
