Schlumberger Awarded 2-year Contract by Statoil for Services on NCS

Statoil has awarded Schlumberger a contract for drilling services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf

‘Schlumberger Norway has been awarded a contract with Statoil to provide integrated drilling services for the Norwegian Continental Shelf licenses Gullfaks, Gullfaks Satellites, Snorre, Statfjord, Tordis/Vigdis, Visun,’ reads a statement released by the Oslo-based company on Friday.

Statoil said that the contract, which has a value of NOK 1.15 billion for an initial duration of two years, will take effect on 1 September 2014 and will provide jobs for 350 people at the service company. Schlumberger employs more than 120,000 people worldwide. 

“Statoil is pleased to see that, with this agreement, Schlumberger Norway has responded positively to the industry’s need to increase efficiency and reduce costs,” Terje Rognan, vice president for procurement in drilling & well, commented. 

On Thursday, Statoil announced it concluded its drilling campaign in the Hoop area, disclosing disappointing results. The company did not report any commercial discoveries.
